Cultural Class Special Student
We have cultural classes to provide our students the opportunities to learn and appreciate the Chinese culture. However, these cultural classes are primarily designed for our language class students. Therefore, the cultural classes will open to non-language class students on limited basis with higher fee.
New Student Placement and Auditing
Starting from the 2002-2003 school year, a new student must be evaluated by school staffs prior to his or her enrollment to the language class. The school staff will determine the most appropriate class for the student. However, the student will have the option to choose higher level class as auditing student. Our teachers do not have any teaching obligations to the students who are auditing. The auditing students are encouraged -- but not required -- to do homework, tests, and other activities. At the end of the school year, if an auditing student meets the minimum requirement of academic performance, his/her teacher may recommend that he or she be a formal next-level student in the coming year. Auditing students cannot get a certification for their studies at our school.
Parent Duties
At
our school, student families are responsible to perform Parent Duties during
school day(s).
The duties would include works such as school related copying, patrolling
classrooms etc. Our staffs will inform the families prior to the on duty day.
Parent Duties are waived for the families of the language/cultural
teachers and the committee members.
School
Cancellation Procedure
The CMCLS School Website www.cmcls.org will announce any school cancellation due to inclement weather no later than 9am on the day of the school. If there is school cancellation, the school will activate the emergency phone network described in the school directory to call every parent and teacher. An email notification will also be sent to all school members (including teachers and parents) in our current email distribution list. If you don't receive a school cancellation notice, you shall assume the school will be open as usual. However, please also use your own judgments since the weather and road condition may be different at various locations. If you are a school teacher and you cannot come while the school is open, please call the Academic Director or Vice Academic Director. If you are on parent duties and you cannot come while the school is open, please call the General Affairs Director or Vice General Affairs Director.
